The new area of Kichijoji in Persona 5 Royal. Firstly, there's Kichijoji, a new area in Tokyo, which seems filled with new food joints and trendy stores for our Phantom Thieves to explore. Persona 5 Royal is set to add new areas to the game, which was pretty huge as it was. Which is what you'd expect from a counselor, I suppose, but it's good to know that we'll be getting another caring Confidant character in the remake. | Atlusįrom the trailer for Persona 5 Royal, it certainly seems like Takuto will be a kind character. His Confidant Social Link is known as 'The Consultant,' and Maruki will be joining Shujin Academy in April, shortly after the incident with Shiho and Kamoshida. You can see the trailer below, which gives us a glimpse of Kasumi's awakening scene where her Persona, known as Cendrillion, appears for the first time. In the reveal trailer for The Royal, this distrust for the Phantom Thieves is confirmed, so we're going to have to wait and see whether Yoshizawa will be our friend, or another antagonist in Persona 5 Royal. The detective asks her what she thinks of the Phantom Thieves, and Kasumi appears to reject their ideology. | Atlusīack when Persona 5 Royal was teased for the first time, Kasumi was heard conversing with Goro Akechi. Akechi, Kasumi, and Ren all hanging out together. Originally dubbed "Poniko" when the character was revealed alongside the unveiling of Persona 5 Royal earlier in the year, Yoshizawa is a transfer student that enters Shujin Academy at the same time as Ren, but in the year below Ren and the rest of the Phantom Thieves. Perhaps the most notable addition for Persona 5 Royal is a new character called Kasumi Yoshizawa. The twins can venture out in Persona 5 Royal. Justine and Caroline can now enter the real world! The pair could hang around by the entrance to the Velvet Room before, but the trailer seems to reveal that the twins can head out into the real world in The Royal. Plot twist! Is that who we think it is? | Atlusįinally, it seems like there'll be a change of role for the twins in Persona 5 Royal. You can see them just below, and if we didn't know better, we'd hazard a guess that what you're seeing there is the human version of Morgana. There's also one new, unidentified character in the third semester.
The original 2017 game featured two school terms: Fall to Winter, and Winter to Spring, so this new third term should go right into Summer, past where the original game wrapped up in March. On top of this, Persona 5 Royal will feature an entirely new third semester. The new group selfies feature for the text chat. You'll be able to take selfies and send them to the Phantom Thieves group chat from your phone, and Futaba also now has a combat finisher move for the first time. Now we'll break down some additional details we've noticed in the Persona 5 Royal trailers above, like new conversation sprites for Ryuji. There's tons of new cinematic footage in this Persona 5 Royal trailer, which looks smooth as ever from Atlus. There's also a brand new Palace that we can briefly see, which Kasumi joins the Phantom Thieves in venturing in to.

It's basically a remake of Persona 5, still releasing on the PS4 exclusively, but with many new content features. If you're wondering what Persona 5 Royal actually is, then look no further than the trailer below. Atlus has typically been better at closing the Japan/Western release gaps after Persona 5 was originally delayed, like the Persona 3/5 dancing spin-off games being released a matter of months in the west after Japan, so it's not entirely unreasonable to expect Persona 5 Royal to release in the west at some point during the first half of 2020. For everyone else in the west, we'll have to wait until Mato get our hands on Persona 5 Royal. But don't get your hopes up just yet, as this is only the release date for the Japanese version of the game. Earlier this year, Atlus revealed the Persona 5 Royal release date to be October 31, 2019.
